Like every year, Thessaloniki International Film Festival will take place in our beautiful city. This festival offers an opportunity to young directors from all over the world to present their work. This year it will be the 53rd time of this nice cultural tradition and it will be held from the 2nd to the 11th of November, 2012. This gorgeous event is always a meeting among filmmakers, actors, producers, international channels and of course the Greek audience.

Within the framework of the festival various sections are included, like official international competition for first and second full-length films, international informative section, non-competitive section of Greek movies, section devoted to the work of new and leading international filmmakers, a special section dedicated to Balkan films, a special screening section, co-production Forum and Film Market, which includes Work-in-progress section. Audience will vote for movies in each category and the most successful movies will get honorary awards. The Jury must give Best Full-length Feature Film Award, Special Jury Award, Special Jury Award for Originality and Innovation, Best Director Award, Best Screenplay Award, Best Actor Award, Best Actress Award and Best Artistic Achievement Award. Let’s see which movies will be the best!

Thessaloniki International Film Festival is not just about the movies. It is a great opportunity to meet talented and unique directors, actors and many other interesting people. Festival offers this year also, events like Discussion on Theo Angelopoulos where Greek artists will share their memories from his artistic journey. You can also attend Multiple-screening installation by Antoinetta Angelidi compiling materials from her films. She offers a new, original and autonomous composition. Two more exhibitions will be included in film festival’s program – Exhibition of arts, collages, photography and video by Rania Rangou called Noble Lies – Tracey Snelling: Nothing and Exhibion Samkura: A journey organized by the State Museum of Contemporary Art. Except this you can also enjoy many parties and concerts and have a lot of fun!

U.S.B., EVSers are the lucky ones because they have been selected to be part of this awesome festival. Everybody of us is very thankful for this opportunity. It will be a great experience! The most of us will help the Audience Awards’ section and the others will help at Agora. Every day we hope to watch as more movies we can and of course to enjoy all the parties and concerts. We are really looking forward! Thanks to U.S.B. for this nice opportunity!

Hey, people, are you still there? Come and find us to a cinema hall!
